INVERTEBRATE PALEONTOLOGY LAB
UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO MISSISSAUGA
Welcome to the Laflamme lab homepage!
The Laflamme lab combines numerical methods and advanced instrumentation with experimental procedures and fieldwork in an attempt to unravel the true diversity at the dawn of animal life, and explain preservation biases in the early animal fossil record. Dr. Laflamme’s areas of research include geobiology, taphonomy, exceptional preservation, and functional morphology, with a strong emphasis on the Ediacara biota. Research in the Laflamme lab takes place in various areas around the globe, from the stormy shores of Mistake Point in Newfoundland, Canada to the deserts of Namibia in Africa.
